“Why Do the Wicked Still Live?

Job 20-21

Why do the wicked still live?

Series Exposition of Job

Job responds to his friend’s simplistic and rigid theology by observing that the wicked often prosper, live long, and die peacefully, while the righteous may suffer terribly. Job refuses the shallow worldview that goodness guarantees blessings in this life (or the reverse). His struggle foreshadows the Gospel’s promise of redemption through the suffering of God’s righteous servant.
