“Rescue Me, O Lord, from Evil Men”

Psalm 140

Rescue me, O Lord, from evil men

SERIES Exposition of Psalms

David’s prayer in Psalm 140 is rooted in confidence that the Lord defends the afflicted and upholds the cause of the righteous. In contrast, Jesus does not cry out for rescue, but submits in silence and bears the justice that David prayed for. We cry out for mercy because Christ chose not to.
